Junior AI Automation Developer

Vancouver, BC, Canada
Full Time
R&D
Entry Level

About the role

Hybrid role, 1 day per week in our downtown office. Only candidates located in the Lower Mainland will be considered.

This is a new, dedicated position created to address Traction Complete's growing backlog of internal automation projects. This role focuses exclusively on building AI-powered tools and automations for internal teams. The Junior AI Automation Developer will report directly to the CTO.

You'll work across every department — marketing, customer success, product, sales, etc. — to discover pain points, gather requirements, and build solutions that make teams more effective. Think of it as running your own internal product shop: you'll prioritize projects by ROI, manage stakeholder expectations, and ship working applications.

This is fully AI-driven development. You won't spend time coding manually; you'll prompt AI systems, orchestrate agents, and use tools like Claude, Cursor, and Playwright to build, test, and ship at a pace that would normally require a much larger team. You'll need the technical understanding to review and correct AI-generated code, but the emphasis is on directing AI rather than writing every line yourself.

This is a standalone role. You'll operate as a one-person team, owning projects end-to-end from discovery through delivery, with support from department heads and the IT team for security reviews.

What you'll be doing

  • Discover and document automation needs across departments through stakeholder conversations
  • Partner with department leaders to understand workflows, gather requirements, and turn ideas into practical solutions
  • Prioritize projects based on ROI and time investment
  • Design and build AI-powered internal tools, workflows, and agents using modern AI platforms such as Claude, Cursor, and other emerging technologies
  • Work closely with IT to ensure applications meet security, data handling, authentication, and deployment requirements
  • Perform QA testing on built applications, including automated testing via tools like Playwright
  • Keep stakeholders informed on progress, timelines, and tradeoffs throughout the project lifecycle
  • Own and complete proof-of-concept projects that are currently in limbo
  • Create clear documentation so others can understand, maintain, and build upon your work
  • Focus on one project at a time through to completion, even when competing requests come in
